Shopping: Online Vs. Store Essay

When comparing two different ways of shopping most people do not even think about the difference, they do both and not even realize it. In today's society people shop while at work, after work and on the weekends, whenever time permits. Stop and think how can I get more time in the day for family or just myself? The best way to figure that out with all the recourses we have is to go into a store and spend time looking through racks and waiting in endless lines to just purchase something. I compared going into a store verses online shopping; to see which one will save you time and money.

There are many reasons for choosing to go into a store to purchase items needed. For instance, having someone assist you in finding what you need, or just answer questions about the product. It is also a way to get off the couch, away from the television, or off the computer. Another feature is you can see and examine what you are going to purchase. This helps in the decision making for most people. You know the minute the salesperson rings you up, the product is yours to take home and use right away. It also makes return on items simple, take it back to where you bought it and get an exchange or a refund if needed. For the draw backing for in-store shopping is; you do spend hours looking for the right product or in the lines trying to just purchase it. Or listening to all the people around you and all the additional noises you hear in stores. Not to mention stores have set hours on when you can shop and when you can not, this is something which can change with a sign on the door.

Online and in-store shopping differentiates in various ways. However, they both are convenient ways to shop. Recently, online shopping has been most convenient for me, but I enjoy both ways of shopping. I believe that shopping preferences change depending on a person’s situation. I noticed that many people are starting to prefer online shopping more than in-store shopping.
Online shopping is most convenient for individuals that don’t have time to go to the store. If you’re busy with an online job or online classes then online shopping can sometimes be more convenient. I haven’t had nearly as many disappointments from in-store purchases as I did from online purchases. I’ve had the most disappointments with shipping. I’ve had experiences with sellers taking extremely long to finally ship an item. There were times when I never even received the item I ordered. I’ve also received broken items, the wrong item, and items that weren’t as described. In the store you can actually see the item, but you have to trust a picture when shopping online. Many sellers would zoom in for the item a lot, so the item has a chance at being smaller when you see it.

When shopping for clothing, in-store shopping is definitely a better option. The main reason is because you get to try on clothes. If it’s a store that doesn’t have fitting rooms, you can still view it clearly and place it against you. You can’t do this at all with online shopping. You will just have to trust the size and measurements. At times, I received items with completely different measurements than they described.

Whenever I make online purchases, it’s usually because of the price. I’m really into international things, so I really like that I can shop worldwide with online shopping. Although, I’ve had my share of negative experiences, I won’t let that stop me from making further online purchases. Online shopping and in-store shopping are both great ways to shop. I love shopping and I am always willing to explore various shopping
